HOWL Festival, New York
'August Performance' at Fusion Arts Museum

Press Release

„August Performance” by Peter Grzybowski is a new version of a sensational „June Performance” which evoked a fierce reaction of the organizers of the Event where it was last shown. The performance deals with a double standard that the US applies to the war on terror and the Muslim world. During the piece, the American artist of Polish origin dressed in a T-shirt ‘I’m proud to be an American’ presents two projections – one with the violent scenes known from the Net, whose main heroes are Arabs and the other, which is a compilation of everyday American newscast, during which newscasters fool around as if nothing happened. This intentionally ambigous performance caused the artist to be threatened with prosecution and / or expulsion from the US by the Director of one of the performance art festivals in New York – an unprecedented act in the performance art world.
